What Are Neurodiagnostic Tests
Neurodiagnostic tests evaluate how your nervous system is working, including your brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. These exams measure electrical activity, responses to sound or visual stimuli, and how your balance and hearing systems perform in real time.
At our Atlanta clinic, we offer the following neurodiagnostic tests:
At our Atlanta clinic, we offer the following neurodiagnostic tests:
Electroencephalography (EEG)
A non-invasive test that measures brain electrical activity to help diagnose conditions like seizures, epilepsy, and sleep disorders.
Evoked Potential Testing
Measures the nervous system’s response to stimuli, helping evaluate sensory functions and conditions like multiple sclerosis or vestibular disorders.
Videonystagmography (VNG)
Helps evaluate balance issues by tracking eye movements as patients perform various tasks.
Rotational Testing
It assesses inner ear function, which is crucial for diagnosing balance disorders like vertigo.
Caloric Irrigations
Evaluates the vestibular system, which is key to balance and detecting causes of dizziness.
Cognitive Testing
Assesses cognitive functions like memory, attention, and processing speed, which can be affected by conditions such as concussions or neurodegenerative diseases.
Buffalo Concussion Treadmill Testing (BCTT)
A key test for concussion evaluation that also helps with recovery through exertion and monitoring autonomic nervous system function.
Electromyography (EMG)
Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
These tests help identify nerve damage and muscle dysfunction.
Cervical Function Testing
Examines neck function and its impact on balance and spatial awareness.
Acoustic Immittance Testing
Acoustic immittance testing is a valuable tool used to assess the function of the middle ear.
Otoacoustic Emission Testing
Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) are very faint sounds produced by healthy inner ears in response to sound stimulation.
Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction on Balance (CTSIB)
Examines neck function and its impact on balance and spatial awareness.
Event-Related Potential/Auditory Processing
This simple evaluation looks at the brain’s ability to not only hear sound, but process it appropriately.
If your doctor has ordered an EEG or EMG/NCV test in Atlanta, or if you need specialized vestibular and balance testing, our neurodiagnostic team can perform your study and send results to your referring provider.
